Enrichment and extra-curricular events are such an important part of what makes Team TPS. We are looking forward to our summer programme of immersive experiences that embody our Enjoy, Respect, Achieve ethos for Years 7 to 10 over a week next summer.
Planning and Allocation
We have now passed the date to submit the preferred options for the off-school site events and have allocated places for all of those who have responded. There are some trips that are now fully subscribed, but you can still choose from the remaining opportunities.
We hope that every child takes the opportunity to be on one of these allocated trips. They all run on the same day, so we hope to have every child enjoying a trip off school site at the same time. Please do read the brochure for all information prior to making the choices.
No action is required for the whole school on-site activities as we expect all available students to participate in these events.
Financing
If the cost of an event requiring payment is a barrier to participation, we encourage you to contact the relevant trip organiser directly to discuss how we may be able to help. Due to factors out of our control, such as changes in transportation costs, all pricing is subject to change. For now, we have provided an approximate, inclusive fee for the trip or activity. Once participant numbers are finalised, we will endeavour to provide the exact costing.
Trip Confirmation
Each trip leader will monitor interest and confirm whether your child has a place for their trip(s) of choice after the 6 January deadline. This communication will provide further detail and outline payment requirements. If the trip is over-subscribed and your child does not secure a place, as determined by the lottery system, then you will be contacted and the deposit will be refunded. There will be the opportunity to be added to a waitlist.
We are looking forward to what will be an inspirational and exciting ERA 26 for every student.
Whole School Events
Monday 22 June
The PE Department looks forward each year to hosting Sports Day at TPS. We pride ourselves on combining participation and competition to ensure all pupils have the opportunity to enjoy the event and achieve. Our big celebration at the end of the day, showcasing our fabulous athletes through all age groups, is a lovely way to promote our house system and community spirit at Team TPS. Which house will win this year?? We hope everyone has a fantastic day!

One of the absolute highlights of the school year. Game Changer Day allows us to focus on our ethos of Enjoy, Respect, Achieve. It is a drop down activity day which allows pupils to develop wider skills which will positively impact them in the working world and allow them to be game changers.
Any Year 7s on camp will have their Game Changer Day on Monday 29 June.

Wednesday 24 June
Our yearly charity dance event. All Year 7s will participate for a period of time during a whole day dance event! Get your group choreography ready for a fun filled dance event. Look out for the teacher participation in the lunchtime session.

The end of year camp is the standout highlight of Year 7. Students will be immersed in the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest for 3 days whilst they get to participate in adventurous activities such as paddle boarding, climbing, abseiling, bush craft and more. A fantastic opportunity to create memories that will stay with them forever.

A whole day of adventurous activity at the Andrew Simpson Centre including paddle boarding, sailing, kayaking, raft building, climbing, abseiling and archery. Please note, this is for any student who hasn't signed up for Year 7 Camp.

Year 8

A Student Science Fair, where students in Year 8 will be directed to research and display a scientific topic/experiment. The fair will include presentations within Year 8 lessons and the best entries will be put forward to compete against their peers in an after school Science Extravaganza!
The after school event will be open to other year groups to see the best entries.

The London Trip is visiting the Baps Shri Swaminarayan Hindu Temple and St. Pauls Cathedral, not Westminster Abbey, as stated previously.
Unfortunately, there were no guide slots for Westminster Abbey in June and July and they don't always accept school groups during these months due to the increase in tourism.

London Science museum and IMAX cinema. An opportunity to explore and discover what the Science Museum has to offer. Step into a fascinating world of STEM careers at the Science Museum’s interactive technical careers gallery. Embark on an extraordinary journey through Earth’s vast ocean highways with a baby humpback whale to uncover the secrets of ocean currents. And ignite curiosity in science and maths in this hands-on Wonderlab, gallery packed with interactive exhibits and immersive experiences. We will be catching the train into London for our trip and should hopefully be returning by the end of the school day.

A 3 day, 2 night Bushcraft Camp set in a beautiful estate in Buckinghamshire. Students will gain independence, confidence and teamwork skills by being immersed in the outdoors where they will learn to construct their own shelters, light their own fires and cook their own food. A great progression from the Y7 activity camp and brilliant preparation for undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award in Y9.

Spanish film - Chichester cinema + Tapas lunch at El Matador restaurant. An opportunity to experience the unique culture and food of Spain. Practise your listening skills and discover Spanish culture by watching a film at a local cinema. Use your speaking skills to order typical food at a traditional Spanish tapas restaurant. Try foods from Spanish regions and understand the cultural delights of Spain! We will be going by coach to Chichester for the day. We will be returning for the end of the school day at 2.30pm-3pm.

Photography Walkshop – An opportunity for students to take a guided walk along the coast from Portsmouth Harbour and around Old Portsmouth. During the walk students will be helped to take a variety of photos that will become an important feature in their GCSE coursework projects.

An important element of GCSE coursework projects is recording from primary source observation, this includes photographs and practical studies. In Year 10 Fine Art Students will embark upon a ‘Natural Structures’ project for their first GCSE coursework unit throughout the Autumn term.
To support this, the Art Department has arranged the opportunity for Year 9 students to visit Kew Gardens in London, providing the visual stimulation that should influence the most exciting creative journeys and artistic outcomes throughout the project. Students will have some guided tasks by specialist staff for part of the visit, plus some independent time to explore Kew and identifying their own original sources of inspiration.
We hope that all Fine Art students wish to take up this excellent opportunity.

A trip to Lyndhurst High Street to assess the economic and environmental impacts of tourism, as well as going for a walk in the New Forest to assess environmental impacts. This is practice fieldwork and is compulsory for Year 9 Geography students.

Students will journey back in time to the age of Henry VIII with a visit to the Mary Rose Museum, home to the world-famous Tudor warship raised from the Solent. This fascinating trip offers a unique opportunity to explore the ship’s remains, learn about Tudor life at sea, and engage with interactive exhibits that bring maritime history vividly to life. A captivating day combining history, archaeology, and hands-on learning in a world-class museum setting.

GCSE Art Students only

This is a fantastic opportunity for all of Year 10 to gain three days of experience in the working world. This will be compulsory for all Year 10 students. Students will be encouraged to seek placements with family or close family friends where they will be given the opportunity to develop fundamental skills for the work place environment. Feedback from last year was fantastic and we look forward to supporting Year 10 with this opportunity. Sign-up details to follow.
Please note that Thursday 2 July or Friday 3 July will be a college taster day for those students who have not attended Bohunt Sixth Form in the previous week. Once students have been informed of their college taster day, they will attending work experience for the rest of the week.

All Year 10s will experience a typical day at college, with a choice of A-Level or vocational based learning experiences at a local College. The day is an excellent opportunity to get a feel for life after school and to start to think about next educational and training beyond GCSEs. Sign-up details to follow.

Fine Art – Artist at TPS for a Day – Renowned Fine Artist Ian Murphy will put the students through their artistic paces in this creative practical workshop. After looking at Ian’s work and being taught new techniques, students will experiment with a variety of media to create studies linked to the Natural Structures coursework unit. GCSE Visual Arts students only.
